    Process FMEA vs Design FMEA

    Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) is a risk management tool applied during design and development, as outlined in ISO 14971:2019, to identify potential failure modes of a device. Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) focuses on manufacturing or service processes, identifying potential process failures and their effects, contributing to process validation as indicated by FDA 21 CFR 820.70(a) for production and process controls.
