Definition
A Contract Research Organization (CRO) delivers protocol design, site management, monitoring, biostatistics, regulatory submissions, safety reporting, and data management on behalf of device, IVD, biotech, and pharma sponsors. MedTech-focused CROs differ from drug CROs in their handling of device-specific endpoints, IRB/EC strategy for IDE/CIP studies, and reimbursement-grade evidence design. What this means in practice
Sponsors choose CROs based on therapeutic-area expertise, geographic site footprint, and budget - and increasingly on familiarity with EU MDR/IVDR clinical evidence expectations.Primary references
